Surgery is Scheduled

I got the call this morning from Dr. Teodori's assistant. We are scheduled to meet with Dr. Teodori next Wedendsay, October 3rd, to go over everything. That means I have to figure out the best way to break the news to Arianna. A heavy burden and not looking forward to it. Praying for God to give me the strength and wisdom I need.

Then the lady asked if I was ready to schedule her surgery. It's never easy actually setting a date but I am so happy to know she is on the schedule. So her surgery is set for October 18th. We will go the day before for the hospital tour. Now I know you all are thinking, "Why are you doing that? You know the hospital and staff." Yes, I do but I also know Arianna needs to see the child life specialists and get mentally prepared. So we will take her through the ICU and then visit with the CLS. Then we have pre-anesthesia after to do her bloodwork, chest x-ray, physical and finalize documents. We will get the exact arrival time the day before but tentatively we are looking at a 7:30am surgery time, which is great cause that means we are first case of the day!

Thank you all for your love and support during this time. It really  means alot to us.

I can't say congratulations on the surgery date because I know how devastating it is to send your child into heart surgery - but it is a relief to have a date.

You have a lot of love and support of family and friends. Arianna has wonderful parents who will be by her side every step of the way.

Are you taking her with you on October 3rd? It might be scary for her to hear all the details. Maybe I could go over and hang out with her and her brother while you guys go to that appointment? Let me know what I can do. (My son is out of school that week so I am free that day)

Nancy you are so sweet! I appreciate the offer to watch the kids. They actually want us to take Arianna to that appointment to meet Dr. Teodori. I might have my mom come with us just in case the talk gets too heavy she can step out with Arianna. Plus, she is just as much apart of this journey as we are. She is at every procedure, surgery, illness, hospital stay, etc. In fact, Arianna always asks if her Grams is coming because she knows she will be there and really helps lifts Arianna's spirits. I know I am incredibly blessed to have supporitve family and friends.

Having just gone through this with Ramona I know how rough the wait is. Would it help to know that the whole thing was not as bad, for me or her, as I was expecting? I'll be thinking of you, and Arianna, as you plan for the big day. I'm available to talk or listen whenever!
